The Story of Gwent Defibbers & Defibbers Cymru

Gwent Defibbers is an ICD/CRTD support group for patients and their partners across South East Wales.

The group provides support to individuals who have had an ICD or CRTD fitted, helping them to share experiences and access guidance.

We meet every three months, with guest speakers invited to discuss topics requested by our members. Partners are also very welcome to attend.

Defibbers Cymru, established in 2023, is a registered charity covering the whole of Wales. The committee is currently working in partnership with the NHS to establish similar support groups across each local health board area.

Further details will be shared in due course—watch this space.

What happens at the Support Group?

At each meeting, the Committee provides an update on activities and developments since the previous session.

Guest speakers are invited to attend each meeting, offering valuable insights and sharing their expertise with the group.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the guest speakers who have supported us since 2009. Their contributions have been greatly appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming many more in the future.

The meeting concludes with an informal opportunity for members to socialise and connect over a cup of tea and some cake.
